The year 2020 an up-date, oh and new tea towels....
2020 well what can I say that hasn't already been said? What a year. Checking in with this blog, where my last blog post was Christmas 2019, has made it even more clear that it really has taken a lot of extra time and energy to just get through it safely. However, I really am fortunate that my family has been thankfully not seriously affected in the grand scheme of things, compared to many others doing it so very, very tough. My heart goes out to you. Quite frankly it seems so trivial to be writing a blog post here at all and in particular about new tea towels in my shop.
Well 2020 has certainly been a year full of surprises. Despite this business not receiving much of my attention I have been so grateful to have been receiving ongoing support from my customers. In fact, I've had the most customers I've ever had both from Australia and overseas. What?! I know the irony, work less gain more that's not supposed to be how it works right? Ahhh I'm not complaining just shocked and very, very grateful. So thankyou from the bottom of my heart.
The other irony to this year is that I embarked upon a new direction and went back to uni to study my Master of Arts in Visual Art. Not sure of how I was going to juggle everything, the isolation from the pandemic gave me more headspace to start researching and re-thinking my art practice and my ideas. I have had the privilege of learning from some amazing teachers, artists and thinkers and met some equally amazing creative people embarking on their own new creative journeys. I have started making art driven by more complex ideas and concepts and I've discovered that art can indeed be a very powerful tool for thinking and communicating.
So before I start to get too carried away about art and ideas I'd better leave it here with my trivial new tea towels which have taken me nearly a year to make but yes they are handmade, printed and designed here in Australia. And keep an eye out I have more tea towels and new designs coming soon.
Take care and stay safe,
